AI News š°
Robots in the Wild š¤
Donald Trump is back in office, and he is all-in on AI. Trump announced āStargate AIā a ā$500 Billionā project to invest in AI technologies in the US, in partnership with OpenAI, Oracle, Softbank and MGX.
We put ā$500 Biilionā in quotes because noted Trump supporter and OpenAI rival Elon Musk has cast some serious doubt on that number, reposting users on X who argue that none of the partnered firms have that kind of cash to spend. His take: accusing the OpenAI team of smoking crack. - source
Medical AI startup Tempus AI has launched āoliviaā, an AI agent for managing patient care and electronic health records. - source
Oscars frontrunner āThe Brutalistā generated significant controversy after news that AI was used to improve actorsā accents. The filmās editor DĆ”vid JancsĆ³ defended the decision, saying that for the minimal-budget film āwe really needed to speed up the process otherwise weād still be in post. It is controversial in the industry to talk about AI, but it shouldnāt be.ā - source
Donāt worry The Brutalist team - we thought people who watch the Oscars were lame way before this.
News That Even AI Couldnāt Hallucinate š
Not everything in the news can be about AI. Hereās some stuff you should know about:
Donald Trump was sworn into office, again. While most of the leaders in AI and tech were there, perhaps most interesting was who was missing. An Imam who was originally scheduled to read alongside other religious leaders at the ceremony - in what would have been a first for the Muslim-American community - was removed at the last minute seemingly in response to his prior statements in support of Hezbollah and the Houthi movement. - source
Trump has likely made himself a few billion by releasing a memecoin on the eve of his inauguration. No one really particularly seems to care or mind. - source
At least 76 people were killed in a hotel fire at a Turkish Ski resort. - source
