Robots in the Wild 🤖

• Humane AI, the AI pin startup that lead the pack among mostly useless wearables contending to take on the smartphone, was acquired by HP, the company behind your printer not working. HP plans to discontinue the AI pin and absorb the team for their own AI dev efforts. - source
  

• According to the South Korean government, Chinese AI leader Deepseek has been sharing user data with TikTok owner ByteDance. The announcement comes after ByteDance rival Baidu announced that their own AI agent ‘Eddie’ was going to be made available free to all users. - source
  

• Elon Musk’s xAI announced that their new Grok-3 model had taken the top spot on Chat Arena, a popular benchmark for AI performance. - source

• An EU MP who played a key role in writing the EU’s previous 2019 copyright directive slammed the union’s new AI Act for failing to address issues around AI & copyright. Meanwhile in the US, a landmark lawsuit between Reuters and legal AI startup ROSS Intelligence determined that ‘fair use’ doesn’t cover AI training data. - source

• Brazil’s former President Bolsonaro is being charged over an alleged coup that included a poisoning plot against current President ‘Lula’ and a Supreme Court Judge. The Brazilian government alleges that Bolsonaro worked with 33 others on a plan called ‘Green and Yellow Dagger’. - source

• Contending with a more volatile world, Trump’s second campaign has been decidedly more volatile when it comes to global affairs. Most recently, Trump has seemingly begun to take significant steps to close the Russo-Ukrainian war without Ukraine’s involvement, calling Ukrainian President Zelenskyy a dictator over the nations’ failure to host elections since the outbreak of the war. - source

• Microsoft has announced Muse, a genAI model for developing game environments. Trained on game data from popular Xbox studio Ninja Theory, the model can support continuous consistent gameplay rendered entirely by AI based on visual feedback and controller input. Google has previously shown off similar breakthroughs in this space, which could significantly change the way developers think about simulation. - source
