• Amazon has finally launched “the next generation of Alexa”, with an LLM-driven solution called ‘Alexa +’. - source

  • Alexa’s success in the era of pre-GPT voice assistants may have kicked off the era of credible threats to Google’s search dominance we’re experiencing today with the rise of AI agents. But will the transition to an AI model be enough to make Alexa prominent again?
    

• Will this be the most watched GenAI video to-date? President Trump has posted a viral GenAI video on Truth Social (seemingly accompanied by an AI-generated song), depicting a strange vision for the future of the war-torn Gaza Strip. The vertical video depicts:

  • gold statues of Trump

  • an Elon look-alike enjoying a mediterranean meal

  • Trump & Netanyahu in their swim trunks sipping by the pool
    

• Microsoft Copilot is getting upgraded with Voice and and o1-powered research tool called “Deep Thinker”. Both modes are free for Copilot users, and mirror similar expansions OpenAI has made in the availability of “deep research” to a wider range of ChatGPT users.- source
  

• Anthropic has launched Claude Plays Pokémon, a twitch livestream of Anthropic’s newest AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, playing through the entirety of Pokémon Red. Anthropic also announced a new coding assistant agent, Claude Code. - source

• Jeff Bezos has directed the Washington Post to narrow the scope of its opinion page “in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets”, saying that delivering a broad range of opinions was no longer the obligation of a newspaper given the predominance of online news. - source

• Tensions between Taiwan and China have been on the rise. After recent signs indicate that Trump is willing to encourage Ukraine to make key concessions to Russia, China may be watching Ukraine very carefully. - source

• Romanian Presidential hopeful Georgescu is now the subject of a criminal inquiry. The far-right candidate won the country’s election by a fair margin, but the Romanian govt. has accused Georgescu of collaborating with Russian foreign actors to bolster his online presence. - source

  • The question for the larger world: Is Trump team colluding with Russian interests in defense of Georgescu, or correctly calling out a an unfair negation of an election without proof of interference?
