• Form head of Google China Kai Fu Li said at a conference this week that Chinese AI models are generally 6 -15 months behind their U.S. counterparts. Li is now founder of 01.AI, which operates the most popular Chinese-native AI data model. - source

• A new open-source AI model, HyperWrite Reflection 70B, made headlines this week when the team was accused of fraud after falsely reporting that their new outperformed counterparts like Meta’s Llama 3.1 in major benchmark tests. - source

• Now AI won’t just make us all unemployed, it will actually help us file for unemployment too! Nevada announced plans to use a Google AI-based workflow to expedite unemployment benefits appeals. Nevada hopes to expedite the appeal process and cut costs as the state manages a backlog of cases dating back to the COVID-19 pandemic. - source
