• Two pioneers of reinforcement learning, one a former research at Google DeepMind, have won the Turing Award. have warned against the unsafe deployment of AI models. The winners took the opportunity to warn against AI companies “releasing software to millions of people without safeguards.” - source

• Scale AI, which provides training data to most leading AI players, has been awarded a prototype contract from the Defense Department for “Thunderforge,” the DOD’s “flagship program” to use AI agents for U.S. military planning and operations, according to the releases. - source
  

• Tesla has filed for a transportation charter-party carrier permit from the California Public Utilities Commission. Elon Musk told investors in January, "I'm confident that we will release unsupervised FSD in California this year.” - source

• YouTube has put out a statement warning that phishing scammers have been generating AI videos featuring the company’s CEO. - source

• 130 wounded men, likely soldiers, have been abducted from hospitals in the Congo by M23, a rebel group with ties to the Rwandan government. The attack is a significant escalation of the conflict, which has seen the group take several of the nation’s largest cities under its control. - source
