AI News 📰

  • Meta Connect was all about AI glasses — namely new Display smart glasses & a ‘neural wristband’ that promises a next-level gesture control experience based on ‘micro movements’ — but the event was marred by two major demo failures:

    • During a cook-along demoing Live AI, influencer Chef Jack Mancusco struggled to converse with Meta AI to create a recipe on-the-fly, blaming “bad WiFi” for repeated phrases. An in-Display video call also failed multiple times when the neural wristband did not pick up the command to accept the call.

    • One of the few demos that did land showed the neural interface converting small motions that seemingly mimicked writing out letters into full text.

      • James Cameron was also inexplicably interviewed, and he seemed very excited by a headset Meta’s not ready to release yet. Diplo also appeared, seemingly to literally chase Mark Zuckerberg out of the room.

  • Today Google is going all in on Gemini + Chrome, with agentic capabilities, conversational history search & more. - source

  • We’ve previously covered how even non-specialized LLMs may be suprisingly competitive with medical professionals when it comes to making certain kinds of diagnoses. Now a new AI model from the University of Copenhagen, called Delphi 2M can predict the rates of more than 1,000 diseases given a patient’s personal history. - source
