Robots in the Wild 🤖

• Google has made Gemini 2.0 available to all users, including developers with API access. Google is also releasing new models, including an experimental Gemini 2.0 Pro available to Advanced users and a new cost-efficient “Flash-lite” model available in public preview via Google AI Studio & Vertex AI - source
  

• Google has also seen some negative press:

  • Primarily, for Alphabet dropping a previous pledge to never use AI for weapons or surveillance - source

  • and when web sleuths discovered that the giant edited their upcoming Super Bowl commercial on YouTube to fix an incorrect stat Gemini surfaces in the commercial. The incorrect stat? No, 50-60% of the world’s cheese consumption is not gouda. - source

  • AND having two more team members - lead engineers behind the viral podcast-generating NotebookLLM - poached by Microsoft - source

• Adobe is updating their AI assistant with “contract intelligence capabilities” for users managing legal docs in Acrobat. The feature is a $5 monthly add on, and can generate citations, recommended questions for specific documents, and compare changes across up to ten different versions of a contract. - source

News That Even AI Couldn’t Hallucinate 🌎

Not everything in the news can be about AI. Here’s some stuff you should know about:

• Islamic spiritual leader the Aga Khan died this week. Leader of the Nizari sect, which has been estimated to include 15 million muslims, the Aga Khan died a veritable billionaire, with national leaders around the world wishing their condolences. - source

• Apple released a new app: Invites, for creating and managing event invitations. Creating messages is only available to iCloud + users. Because iCloud + users are known for being the life of the party! - source

• Recurring low-level earthquakes have been rocking Santorini, a Greek volcanic island. Scientists claim for now that the Earthquakes are unrelated to the island’s active volcano, though schools have been shut down for several weeks as a result of the quakes. - source

• We also published some new blogs, capturing the latest news in AI
